Consultation replies from Reading FOE
26 August 2006: One Way IDR scheme for Reading
Reading Borough Council has proposed to turn the Inner Distribution Road (IDR) of Reading into a one way system.
Following the Environmental Assessment of the Council, Reading Friends of the Earth has provided a second response. In conclusion the vision of the future presented on air quality, carbon emissions and vehicle delays is not acceptable. The Council should develop an alternative strategy based on traffic reduction (achieved by some combination of road user pricing and reduction in car park availability) and road layout changes to give much greater priority to public transport and cycles.

12 September 2006: Objection to Kennet Valley Park
This letter is an objection to West Berkshire Council concerning the proposal from Prudential to develop 7500 houses in what is called the Kennet Valley Park development. The area is an elongated triangle bounded by the railway lines to Basingstoke and Newbury on two sides and the M4 between junction 11 and 12 on the third side. At present the area is a mixture of meadows and old owergrown gravel pits which have a very rich wildlife.
Here you can read the full text of our objection.
23 June 2006: Station Hill consultation
This letter is a response on behalf of Reading Friends of the Earth to the current consultations on the Station Hill (South) - Reading: Consultation draft planning & urban design brief.

23 March 2006: One way IDR scheme for Reading
Reading Borough Council has proposed to turn the Inner Distribution Road (IDR) of Reading into a one way system.
After careful discussions Reading FOE has decided to oppose the scheme as the proposal is not part of a coherent strategy to achieve a significant reduction in traffic and therefore to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
